Designer of the Week: Nor-Lisa (published 13 July 2012 on http://www.tellusfashion.com)
“So as art shouldn’t be copied neither should fashion” – Lisa McCabe
The Designer of the Week hot spot has been snatched up by Nor-Lisa and her quirky, WW2 inspired creations.
Creator, Lisa McCabe discovered her passion for fashion at a young age. After receiving distinctions in her Art and Design National Diploma course at Fermanagh College in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, Lisa went on to study Fashion and Textiles at University of Ulster, Belfast.
Here she created her Beauty is your Duty collection. With the idea of raising morale during a war-torn Britain, Nor-Lisa encompasses Spitfire planes and 40s pin up girl images into high quality, one-off pieces. This inspiration speaks volumes on her Drained Soul full length dress (£200). The negative Spitfire print is beautifully and dramatically set against the red fabric. Complete with a split up the side, this dress is an eye-catching work of art.
Her prints mix vivid colours and bold shapes to create the perfect statement, with detailing finished by hand for that extra touch of luxury. Match the Dotty Rose Digital Print Scarf (£50) with a black vest top and cigarette pants for a glamorous outfit that will stun from the office to the dance floor. But hurry! There are only five made in the entire world.
Alternatively the Bare No More Dress (£120) needs nothing adding to it. The laser cut planes can be worn on the front or back and, coupled with a bright lipstick is a hassle-free party look.
